The Rare Gem Plate had Star Presentation and Enduring Star in the fray and since both these youngsters had shown great promise, they were expected to battle it out for honours. However, the price drift on Star Presentation and the one-sided support for Enduring Star was indeed surprising. Salsera was taken on a start to finish mission by jockey Malesh Narredu and the daughter of Brave Hunter refused to relinquish her position in the front and fought on resolutely to win with a measure of comfort from Star Presentation. The got-abroad gelding Star Presentation surely needs more ground to make his mark while Enduring Star who did not get a clear run early on, was a dismal third.

Mighty Heart who came in for inspired support, was never in with a chance of winning right from the start and was a miserable flop.

PLEASURING Race No.1
Aquitane recorded a facile win in the day’s opener, the Welcome Plate (div II). Ridden in restraint in fourth or fifth position till turning for home, Aquitaine was pulled out on the outside and the daughter of Valid Concept picked up speed instantly to win going away from the field. Joint favourite Pleasuring, who was in the second position, was left stranded by the eventual winner.
