Sunday Summary.

Forced to stay awake to watch the Finals of the Euro 2008 ,I have a lot of spare time and hence this early post.


Gift Of Achievement's finish was eye catching and that too with R.Koch.Should definitely do well in the next outing.Can do well over longer distances also.

Artistic Emperor : Too much expectations on the basis of relative JOCKEY MERIT.How else can we justify the odds quoted.Helped the bookmakers to start off the proceedings on a Positive note.Now that the Hyd Season is scheduled to take off shortly this run should be have benefited the Horse.But nothing is certain in Hyd racing.

Others including the Winner were not all that impressive though the manner of Victory might give the impression that the Winner was too good.

Lotus Leaf : Pillar to Post.Can repeat.
Rain Man : having picked up the valuable Dividends and also stake money , Iam sure that the connexions would be happy to have a gamble only after a prolonged lapse of time.

Gentleman's Glory run was forward.Keep an eye.

Baffled : coming to the tracks after a long layoff and change in stables.Owner / Trainer / Jockey strike WHEN they need to not when Punters fancy them.


TOMSK : Came from an impossible position and WON very convincingly.Now whether the same can be repeated against the same opposition and on same handicap is something I am not confident as The 2 fancied runners were having thier First run this season and were a bit undone by the pace of the race.I am not taking away the credit of TOMSK but if seen in the right perspective It would seem that its chances are not so bright in the next class , as it is likely to be penalized heavily for this WIN .In the next class would find it difficult to do well against Horses which benefit by the Handicap.

Southern Summit lives to fite another race and was seen to tire at the closing stages.Bloodlines are not that impressive and hence difficult to assess its chances.

Distinctly ahead : got the feeling that the race was sewed up prior to race time as most of the Riders were contend playing second fiddle.The Horse is well bred and can do well in future but this RUN was not that impressive .With the Owner having coming down to bangalore , it was obvious that the expected Week end DOUBLE would go through sans some unexpected Mishap.

Abs Fabs : Late and belated effort.

Simple : at times the Jockey's caliber makes a difference.The Combination of Puttana / Sadasiva / Krishnan may have stuck GOLD with other Horses but this Horse needs some STRONG saddle support.One also noticed that last outing the Horse was kept in the front and today it came from way off the pace.

Fire of Joy : waht was he doing ???



Nothing much to choose from considering the close verdict.Some of the runners were out handicapped and will be seen in a different light in the next outing.
In the Zone was a lost cause on account of the handicap as APPU is never the rider who can WIN giving so much weight.

Olivia Valere can make a impression only at distances beyond 1200.

Rebellious : Will be at the Podium shortly in Mysore.


Noble Prince : Noteworthy Winner.May have WON as the 2 main Contenders namely Bourbon King and Southern Empire were not participating.Can WIN again.

Alekona : good run considering the quality of opposition.However I would avoid a bet in races beyond a mile.

Diego Riveria : Will be off to a Winning Start in the Pune Season.

Talk of the Devil : Most consistent and under rated Horse in bangalore beating the likes of Sweeping Success , Diabolical etc was not entirely unexpected if one had seen the previous record of this Horse.Future Victory will depend on the race distance and the handicap.

Sweeping Success : Not at this center.There are too many classic horses here to fite for the top spot.


Star Presentation : had nothing to beat.So ????

Echoes of Light : did well to come into dividend list.Will strike as and when the Owner needs it to WIN.

Lucky Number Slevin : Good 4 th .Can do well when the race is open.
Queen Rania : forward run.Note over 1400.

Last race :


Awesome Beauty : Season Quota fulfilled.
Act Smart : Not a genuine RUN.That is all that i can say.
Sun Zone : not a sprinter .having WON races over longer distances , how can it even be considered over a Sprint ??
Refresh : unextended 4 th.
Super Woman : Jockey was for the ODDS.Horse was never in contention though the bookies listed it as the favorite.

Hi all,

my understanding of the races is as follows ;

1.Straight fight between Star League and Artistic Emperor.Gift of achievement may have been an option but after TWO Long Shots on Saturday from Satish Narredu , i am not looking at this possibility.

Star League is SURE TO place.

Lunar Royale can ( repeat CAN ) place and offer some relief to the concerned Jockey as none of the other runners have any chance to even place.



2.Costa Mesa and Lotus Leaf are the 2 contenders for the HONEY DAY Plate and unless the Honey intoxicates the Jockey , it should be a One Horse Race.All said and done , it is not worth a BET at the ODDS and if it loses there will be several smiling faces in the race course.

The fite for the 3 rd post is open for bidding and hopefully the options will be known by race time.


3.Will TOMSK be able to pull it off and complete a Hatrick in the bargain.Pointers are negative.

Iaepetus obviously cant be backed for Strategic Reasons.

Southern Summit looks outstanding BUT will have to co ordinate with Inspiring Trust as they have had the common race of Autonomy to refer to.

Clever Ploy can be ignored as CUTE STYLE is the one which can trouble the bookies for Place.


4.Running Man and Touch of Paradise have to decide amongst themselves as who deserves to be in PARADISE.Aspiring Seven can Hope to place .


5.Fire of Joy can definitely provide joy of tears to punters if the Horse runs true to form.Distinctly Ahead may not be AHEAD of all the other runners and WILL finish a distance away from the Winner.The Rider declared to ride ABS FABS is the person who might be aware of its chances as C Alford for all practical purposes might not be able to do duty.

Racing is not so Simple for Puttana and Krishnan to Pick up races at their Will as several other factors come into contention.So tough task ahead for these 2 gentlemen.

6.ZAFAR the WHITE Horse may place ahead of several others.In the Zone would be carrying the burden of top weight as well as the punters Money and could turn out to be a White Elephant.Ghatala's Stars can start shining if the Jockey is up to the task.Will he prefer to B A STAR or a FLOP Master is something we cant guess now.



7.Some serious stuff at last

Diabolical : Even if Diabolical Plans are being cooked it is unlikely to Succeed.
Diego Riveria : WILL place by default.
Sweeping Sucess : Cant say with certainty but it may at best come 3 rd.
Splendid Surprise : Christopher has surprised all punters with his NIL RECORD.Can only SHOCK us in Mysore and Hyderabad.
Noble Prince : lets wait for the Noble Intentions to come through.
Retribution : Lisa needs VISA.Air Ticketing Agents cum Punters PLEASE help her with the formalities.
ALEKONA : If the Jockey does Justice to the Ride can walk away with the Chief Justice CUP.
Azureus : name twister will find treasure in home land.
Classic Sky : Sky likely to be cloudy at race time.
Vanquish : Whom to Vanquish ??
Cotswold Arms : No arms only ALMS for Ryan Marshall.
Alterio : Cant Alter the course of the race.
mothers Pride : has no pride to fight.

Honestly i am tired of seeing the same old horses being fancied and recommended by one and all.Most Classic Winners have floundered later and with many of them coming into the races after a long break it is not going to be easy.


8.is Star Presentation bred at Manjri StuD for it to Annex this Trophy.One needs numbers to be Lucky at the races and Lucky Number SEVEN has the credibility to PLACE.Queen Rania is a Filly with lots of potential and can upset the applecart.

9. Dhariwal can Act Smart on Sunday only if the Awesome Beauty is not ready for the Imminent COUP.The one eyed Super Woman can provide some anxious moments.

We had 2 " A " Class Jockeys Mallesh Narredu and P S Chouhan with 1500 + Winners in their career
( My Guess )

Both of them ( together ) must have had over the past 5 years WON 300 + races and may have placed in Over a 1000 races.

And yet they were ignored in the betting and both their Horses were available at odds of 15 to 1 for WIN and 3 to 1 for Place.

AND

We had a Horse with a Mediocre Work Jockey from MAM Stable being fancied and backed by several big time punters.

Raja Rao must have have WON a Race last in the 19 th century ( if my memory is right ) and over the past decade must have had a 1 % place record and 0 % Win Record.


And bookies in their Wisdom declared it as TOUCH of MAGIC .

So who is the FOOL here.

The Bookie who declares it the favorite or the Punter who bets on the Horse without any logic.

One more day racing day left in june.

First race :

Miss Marvellous / Shisham / Illusive Girl.

The Contenders for this Class IV race are Shisham , Illusive Girl and Miss Marvellous.The others dont appeal to me.While Shisham and Illusive Girl have participated in class iv races , Miss Marvellous is a promotee.However in its previous outing the filly finished a good fifth carrying top weight of 62 kgs.Based on the race time odds a decision can be taken.Shisham is a place certainty.

Second Race :


Vijayrath / Caprioska / Undue.

Tricky race as we have only 7 horses in the fray.Going by the previous performance and jockeys assigned to ride, Pleasant Prince and Mighty Heart is ruled out.

Undue : After the bloodless victory in its previous outing it seems this Horse is being considered for the derby.Though bred to stay and having excellent bloodlines the negative point is that it has not beaten any horse of merit.Also is being raced at short notice.As such iam not positive of its chances.

Noble View : Except for the WIN recently ( Srinath ) there is nothing to mention about.But is tracking well and the Horse is bred to do well over longer distances.Change in Jockey is a matter of concern.

Vijayrath : Hyderabad import being the best bred horse in the race and finished a far away 6 th to Star of Washington on its debut run in bangalore.Tracking well and with a good jockey can do well.

Double Elite :Doubtful.

Caprioska : Expensive failure on quite a few occasions and finished faraway 3 rd to Noble View earlier in the season.But has the handicap in favor this time around.


Third Race :


Timeless Treasure / Ahira / Spark of Gold.

Our Charm ; not doing too well in tracks and still retaining Steel Shoes.AVOID.

Stormy River :Doubtful.

Spark of Gold : Could be the dark horse in the fray.Jockey is for the ODDS.

Timeless Treasure : Must be fancied by one and all after the impressive third to Blushing Beam on debut.

Sarang and Fly Free : Not here.

Latvia : Tracking well and is also well bred but seems very much doubtful considering the quality of opposition.

Ahira : Was seen tiring over 1400 when UNDUE won.Is frequent in the morning work outs and hence should place.

Red River Rebel : ????



Fourth race :

Chelsy dancer / Da Bomb / Suceeding Star.

Was fancied in Cart Wheel race in Winter.Win seems doubtful.Can only place.

the Spartan : Doubtful.

One : at best a place hopeful.

Crown Sceptre : Most of the off springs of Brave Act seem to be doing well over longer distances and considering this race is over 1200 , one can rule it out.

Chelsy Dancer : blazing the tracks.Can make it a start to finish affair.

Da Bomb : May place .Keep an eye.



Fifth Race :

Freemason / Supreme Quest / Proof of Treasure .

Any of these Three can WIN as they seem to be closely matched.Supreme Quest is not likely to be in the odds and is the one who can UPSET .However a lot depends on the saddle support from Shiva Kumar who is pretty ordinary.

Prayatna and Lightnin Blues would also come into the betting and one of them may only place.


Sixth Race :

Dancing Highness / Lava / Jet Fire / WonderSmile.

Jet Fire : has been very inconsistent but can do well with the Lucky mascot Jockey back in action.Must surely PLACE.

Dancing Highness : Better saddle assistance with Smith can do the trick as Ranjeet was woefully inadequate last time.

Lava : Impressive Winner and a genuine Class 1 horse.

Wonder Smile : 2 Close finishes this season and was at the receiving end on both occasions.Hence negative for ME.



Seventh race :


Thunders Roar / Ready to Mingle / Jersey Rock / Rocamora.

Ready to Mingle : Won well in the lower class.With Srinath being a stronger rider one can expect it to Finish in 1-2.

Copertina : Not here.

Rocamora : Place possibility.

Clouseau : Confict with Copertina and Ryan Marshall are TWO negatives against this Horse.However the Horse is doing well in the tracks.

Last Sammurai : Distance ?????

Thunders Roar : 3 rd to Gleaming Sky.As this Horse has met up with some quality horses in previous outing , the chances of scoring are bright.

Jersey Rock : Long shot.


Last Race : VB Race and hence entirely avoidable from betting point of view.Favorites rarely oblige in these races.

Colts Trial Stakes : Poll Results

We have had 54 valid votes for this Poll and the Top Three are ;

Fleeting Arrow - 29 , Star of Washington - 11 and Mark of Gibraltar - 8.

The night odds do reflect Star of Washington as favorite and My guess is that the race time odds may favor Fleeting Arrow followed by Star of Washington with Mark of Gibraltar likely to close 7 to 1 .Rest would be above 15 to 1 with lucrative odds offered for PLACE.

Jodi seems safe though the uncertainty of racing would still cast a shadow.

The race is very competitive this year with no clear on money favorite in sight as potential of most horses have not been tested.Besides Star of Washington is a late entrant in the scene having not competed with any of these horses earlier.

Fleeting Arrow has had the measure of most of the horses in bangalore / Mumbai and if it romps home in style today it will be a live threat to Set Alight.

A fast paced race would definitely suit Star of Washington .The opposite may to to the linking of Fleeting Arrow and Palazzio's Sun.The Southern Chieftan is not likely to let go off the oppurchunity having lost out on the fillies trial stakes.

Palazzio's Sun and Lycia Falcon are the Horses being considered for place in case one of the Top Three is not able to make it.

Options for the Day

Long card of 9 events framed and there could be some surprises in store.

These are my views for the day ;If any of these turn out to be on money favorites it makes sense to back another Horse for Place.


First race ;


The well bred filly Aveline is tracking extremely well and has the potential to run away with the race even without much assistance from the rider.


Leopardino : has the services of a hard taskmaster.But bloodlines are not that impressive to justify a WIN against some quality opposition.

Tern Me On : has been blazing the tracks.May do well.

Great Honour and Fox Haven: With the benefit of a race run one of these can at best place.


My Bet : Aveline WIN and Tern me On Place.



Second Race :

Reflection of Gold :has opted to run in lower class after finishing afarway 5 th to the classic hopeful Fantastic Quest.The top weight may hamper its progress.Place seems certain.

Glorious Princess : Place.

Ravileena : been working regularly in the tracks giving the indication that it may be in the reckoning.Upset Horse.

Gris Rapide : Well placed on handicap.Should easily place.


My Bet : Reflection of Gold and Gris Rapide Place.



Third Race :

Toofan Express : not here.

Originality : may be fancied based on the close 2 nd to TOMSK.To me it looks a good negative bet at odds of EVEN money or less.

Dash On Regardless : Consistent horse from Hyderabad.Rookie is entrusted with the JOB.Keep an eye.

Sunny Baba : last outing over 1400 was to get a feel of the race track.Is speedy enough to scare the fancied runners.

Spark of Isis : has come back to sprint after 3 runs over 7 furlongs ?? Not sure if i the decision is going to be fruitful.

My bet : Originality Negative - Sunny Baba Each way.Dash on Regardless : Small bet for place.



Fourth race :

bad bad bad Race , but SENNA will be in 1 - 2.that is for sure.

I do expect Kandiate also to place.

Senna : WIN / Shp and Kandiate Place.



Fifth race :

Ivory Snow : may be difficult for place also.

Imperial Dream : unfortunately the Horse has not been worked at frequent intervals to justify a call.

Ice Breaker : If not here , WHEN and WHERE is the ???
In any case a WIN bet is not going to fetch more than 40 % return.

Greens : Stable is capable of surprising everyone at regular intervals.Should place.

Atlantus : Long shot purely for place.

My bet : Greens Shp and Place.


Sixth Race :

Attain : Impressive 4 th to Fleeting Arrow.May place if the Jockey is up to the task assigned.

Flaming Lamborgini : was flying in the closing stages of race 55.May Surprise.

Logans Run : stable is going through testing times.Horse has the class but intent is always lacking.

Western Command : Last run was good but earlier failures is something one cant wish away.Has WON one race since making debut and is in CLASS 2.Chances are not that rosy.

Scimitar : came close to upset Star Presentation but was unlucky as the Objection was over ruled.One negative on this Horse is its inconsistency.Also i have invariable noticed that it finishes on well only at the last moment.This distance may prove to be sharp.


My bet : Attain each way.Negative on Favorite.


CLASSIC Race :

Fleeting Arrow : On the basis of past performance and current form this Horse should be the front runner.The distance of 1600 is not going to be an issue.Hope APPU obliges.If at all it fails it would be due to bad judgement by the rider.

Archipenko : Has lost Twice to F.Arrow.The distance may be to the liking of this Horse but may be difficult to WIN with C.Alford who is going through some terrible times.

Gentle Knight : Make no Mistake this Horse is capable of extending the best.It is well bred but the choice of Jockey may put off some punters as the Retained riders have opted for the market fancies.

Mark of Gibralter : Sorry , i am not very convinced of its potential.Could be i am not seeing something that many others have observed.Good luck.

Star of Washington : Purely for BLOOD LINES and manner of Winning and the Choice of Jockey it deserves a chance.

Arktouros : Last outing was First run after being gelded.So if one were to ignore the failure as favorite by this reasoning then Good chance for PLACE.

Palazzio's Sun : Has been written off by one and all after the impressive debut WIN in bangalore.Could have had the measure of Mark of Gibralter in race 29 which was WON by Setalight but for some bad judgement from W.Smith.The rider can negate all his earlier losses with a better ride.

Lycia Falcon : Why here ???? In any case good luck to the Trainer who deserves every bit of encouragement.


My Bet : Palazzio's Sun Small bet for WIN but good bet for Place.
Star of Washington : WIN bet covered with a small bet for SHP.

Gentle Knight : Place.

No bets on Fleeting Arrow.



8 th Race :

Lush Foliage : speedy customer.Can place if Celestial Son is not the preferred choice of the Trainer.

Poetic : beaten just Pied Harrier , hence iam not very confident of its Victory which is taken for GRANTED.

Billy Blackjack : may do well in its age group.Not here.

Sound of nature : Fifth to the talented RIMPUCHE.Has stripped fitter after the debut run in bangalore.

Celestial Son : failed favorite in race 30 as On a Roll was too good.Can make amends.In both divisions of this Plate , I see MAM and Neil Horses.Lok up for the clues at race time and make the decision.

Marcegalia :Regal ransom has WON 2 races very Convincingly after its defeat at the hands of Marcegalia. It only means that the Victory with L.Marshall was Set up or to put it the other way this horse is very talented.

My bet : Negative on Poetic.Celestial Son : Place. Marcegalia : Each way.


Last race :

Masquenada : its previous WIN against some poor opposition no doubt but this Horse has the capability to strike as the manner of Winning was very impressive.

Welcome Back : Place only.

Cimmaron : Mallya Stable was in full flow on saturday with the 4 expected runners PLACING .So on that grounds i would avoid this HORSE on Sunday.

Blink / Swift Fire : Eshwar to decide.


Masquenada : Good bet for WIN with a small amount on SHP to cover the WIN bet.

3) THIS THE MOST DIFFICULT RACE, FOR WINNER PICKING, OF THE DAY.

Saturday choices

First race :

Jockey Jagadeesh has not yet opened his account in bangalore and is entrusted to ride OPPRIMO purely for the odds.

Trainer Manohar gets only the the rejects and hence one cant judge Muscial Paradise by the bloodline or tracks.

Sikander E Alam is the only horse with some record but alas has not been seen in the tracks since the previous run in hyderabad in March ,08.

Considering the limited options for picking the Winner , better to wait till race time to get a feel of the flow of funds and then pick the winner.

One can consider Two to Tango or Panjury for a place bet on the assumption that one of the above three fancied runners would not make it.



Second Race :

Telemacchus : may upset .Keep an eye.

Calming Influence is well bred and showing out in the morning tracks.Would be the favorite and can oblige.

Pinaakini : Most consistent runner in bangalore ,yet to pick up a race.May at best place.

She's Spectacular : Regular in tracks , may be tried though choice of Jockey is not very encouraging.

Sheer Gold : Not here.

Standing Ovation : Good 4 th with work jockey.Has been judiciously prepared and with APPU to guide the fortunes can make it a start to finish affair.

Horses 2/3/5 are all owned by Owners from hyderabad and hence i have not considered the 2 fancied runners.Only One of the TWO fancied runners may do well due to this factor.


Third Race :

Gampu : carrying top weight , finished 5 th in last outing.No track work but one can take a chance bet as it is from a gambling stable.

Word to Word : facile Winner but handicap against the horse this time around.

Royal Artist : No track work since 10/05.Otherwise Good Horse with a powerful rider.

Badda Rupaiyya : Should do well with the positive switch in Rider.

King of Good times : Best bred horse in the race and at tidy handicap.

Live it up : R Marshall . Chances of Winning are negligable.


My Choice : Badda Rupaiyya - each way and Gampu Place.
Negative bet on Jodi of King of Good times and Live it up if the odds are good enough.


Fourth race :


Leagues Apart : Impressive second to All my Colors but the top weight and distance may prove to be too much.Avoidable for WIN.

A Run to Remember : Not here.

Allegro : has been coming into the frame only in the closing stages over shorter distances.At this handicap can do well.

Miss Pukka : ?????

Lucky Gold Star : Ignore the previous run which was too sharp for comfort.Should easily place.If Pinaakini places one can have a roll bet on this horse for place.

My Choice : Allegro - Place and a Negative bet on Leagues Apart @ even and below.



Fifth Race :

First Four Horses may not be possible for place due to choice of riders/top handicap.

Bastian Bay : May at best place though the Horse has the merit to WIN.The choice of Jockey , the Draw and the weight may prove to be a dampener.

Alchesaye :Rider was unable to do much in previous outing when
Luckynumberslevin WON at lucrative odds.May do well with the retained rider of the stable.

Milford : Tracking well.May only place.

Apertini : Did all the running in race 52 which EL Gordo WON .The change in equipment and the handicap may see it through.

Snob Value : has been systematically brought down by using the services of some mediocre riders.

My Choice : Each way bet on Aperitini and place bet on Milford.Negative on Jodi of Bastian Bay and Alchesaye.



Sixth race :

Carte Blancehe ; Finishing on well on debut.Should be a force to reckon with.

Raptor Force : Tracking exceedingly well.Earlier sibling Renascent has done well.A winner on debut ?? Not likely.If it Wins i would be happy for my friend.

Spandau Bullet : Last run was suggestive.Should easily place by default.

Enduring Star : Failed favorite . Not friendly stable.As it is likely to open as the
1 st or 2 nd Favorite . it is not a attractive betting option due to instability.May Win / can WIN but definitely not worth a WIN bet.

Redshift : Upset .

My choice : Carte Blance : WIN / SHP. Spandau Bullet : Place
The favorite be it Enduring Star or Raptor Force would be a good negative bet.



Seventh Race ;

Regal Ransom , Super Sonic , Vijaysamrat and Splendid Power are the 4 horses which are capable of Winning or coming into place contention.

I would go with Splendid Power for Place bet as Picking Winner amongst these 4 is difficult due to the heavy impost on the First 3 Horses.


Last Race : Bold Reply / Our Little Savage : Not here.Good negative bets.

Crackerjack : intent to do well is seen by the choice of Jockey and positive change of equipment.But Looks difficult in this set.

mac : Lisa Jones : Definitely not for WIN.

Ciboney : has the services of a top jockey.has some good form to go by.Can strike.

Powerful dreams : has not been tested beyond 1200.May at best come 3 rd.

Mystic Star : Will place by default.

South Paradise : may suprise.

Jersey Power : back to original stable.Looking extremely good on handicap.But against so many contenders ???


My Choice : Ciboney - Win / Shp and South Paradise - Place

Negative bets on Mystic Star / Mac / Crackerjack if they are installed as Favorites.


Place roll for the day : Badda Rupaiyya / Allegro / Apertini / Spandau Bullet / Splendid Power and Ciboney.

2) THUNDER ON SHOULD WIN THIS AND WILL PLACE. THE JOCKEYS FOOT WAS OUT THE STIRRUP FOR LIKE 600 MTRS OF THE RACE.
ALL THIS TIME THE JOCKEY WAS SITTING AWKWARDLY ON AN ANGLE. THEN HE GOT HIS FOOT IN THE STIRRUP.
CAME FLYING 3RD AFTER LOOSING MAJOR ENERGY BEHIND EONA..
OTHERWISE A VERY COMPETITIVE RACE WITH MIAMI GOLD, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, OUTCLAS, GREEN PASSION AND TURBO BABE.
MY OTHER CHOICE IS MIAMI GOLD FOR PLACE.
3) ANOTHER BAD RACE WITH THE FOLLOWING 5 HAVING A CHANCE.
THE REST CAN BE DISCOUNTED.
