Review of races / my bets

With effect from this week , i would post the review of the races along with a brief note on my bets and my reasoning.This is because i find that a lot of punters bet based on the Tips given here.There should be some transparency and hence this effort.


The Visitors are aware that MY CHOICES are posted very early much before the Night odds and there could be lots of changes subsequent to the Post.But once i post the Selections I ONLY BET on them if the ODDS meet my criteria.If my days best is 1/2 money I eat the Horse .At the same time if it is 2 to 1 , I do not bet as Minimum ODDS needed to bet is 4 to 1. I do not back MOST favorites however good they may be for my own reasons.I do keep them for ROLL bets but no individual bets.

This review of MY performance ( winning or losing does not matter ) would give you an insight of my bets ( however good or bad ) and if it HELPS even a Single person I would be contended.I would not mention the size for the bet for obvious reasons.Visitors can give their own experiences also to enable us to move ahead positively.

SO here we go - Saturday :

First event : Enforcement was very impressive in Victory and the cause was helped by the poor performance from the rest of the runners with Valiant bid and You beauty going out from even PLACE money.

I was negative on Valiant Bid for 3 reasons , One - top weight , Two - Trainers record and 3 - VB race.Opened at 12/10 and was consistent throughout.

Had a negative bet.

At times One notices horses which had no business to even be in the ODDS suddenly being backed in TOTE.I always back these Horses.Diamond Shower with no recent form or record to go by was one such Horse.

had a each way bet. Did well to finish 2 nd.


Second Race : Win Pretty Baby lived up to the name and Lisa Jones barely managed to scrape through.Horse was backed from 2.75 to 1.40.Whenever Owner Nathani comes personally to Bangalore / Pune / Mumbai , I notice that invariably the Horse succeeds.Did see him in the paddocks when Dancing Highness , WON some time ago.

Most of the other fancied runners looked the other way save CASINO ROYAL who lost a CERTAIN RACE due to pathetic riding skills displayed by Md.Shafiq.

Recommended and played Major Impression which ended 4 th.


Third Race : Both Kyles of Bute and Desert Rule were fancied.

I did notice that on TOTE the Initial odds on Spartan and Spandau Bullet was 25 to 1 for WIN and 4 to 1 for place , where as FLY FREE which incidently did not find favor in my Selections was in the ODDS and below 12 to 1.Place odds was only 21.Well went through the records and found that the Horse was a late finisher.Strong Task Master Christopher was entrusted with the ride.Decided to EAT JODI and Back this HORSE.

I had given Kyles as a GOOD BET and had it in the WIN kainchi , yet ate JODI.

As expected this HORSE WON in spite of being at a impossible position at the bend.After the result Noticed the OWNER Amarnath in the paddocks
( film star and Member of Parliment ) too bad that i missed him earlier.Could have made a bigger bet.

Kyles of Bute was given a bad ride for the 2 nd time.Desert Rule had only HYPE.



Fourth Race : Queens Guest WON on expected lines.Has a lot of potential to go up to class 1.
Cannavaro coming into the races after long break did well to finish credible 2 nd.

As i dont back favorites I ended playing BILLY BLACK JACK for place as suggested in the blog.


Fifth Race :

I had eaten the JODI as i was very clear that Southern Empire would not even PLACE.Noble Price was excessively Whipped in the last outing and Jockey served suspension.

Unfortunately i could not make up my mind on ended up backing Sweeping Success for PLACE.One point i over looked was Alterio was surprising backed for place in TOTE and was Rs 40 initially , ended giving Rs 118.One small note, I wish to make is that inn BTC , Only a Horse BACKED would be tried.If there is no money IT will not even PLACE.Strict NO NO.Trainers and Owners can BACK it and they can lose but very rarely does a Horse SUCCEED if it is not backed.

Bourbon King and Southern Empire reflected place odds of 50 and 40 initially and usually MAM horses if on DUTY would be LOCKED at Rs 10.There should be some correlation between WIN and PLACE ODDS>

Coming to the race , i guess the WEIGHT took a toll on all the THREE Fancied RUNNERS.ALEKONA was very very impressive in the manner of Winning and erased a 20 year old record in the bargain.


Sixth race :

the Contender was suggested as a GOOD bet in my review.But as always the odds of .60 was tempting and I had a NEGATIVE BET.To cover this I had a each way bet on ACT SMART ( recommended as DAYS best PLACE BET ) and the loss was partly covered.
Reason for eating ?? Well no certainties in racing and secondly I took a chance since handicap was against the Horse.

Impressive WINNER but may find it difficult in future against quality opposition.

Act Smart ran decently but the Horse to watch out for is AFGHAN.Now that the season is drawing to a close , MYSORE main season could see this Horse in the Winners enclosure.

Surprise Package was not given a good ride.


Seventh Race :She's Spectacular won from Start to Finish.Some how the rest of the field waited till this Horse went clear and then tried to come close.

Lots of confusion in the ring and tote and sighting the winner was really a uphill task.I ended backing Sheer Gold for place though not in my selection.Also There was No recent track work.Bad choice.


Last Race :

Snob Value won drawing away from the field with the others contend to play second fiddle.This Horse was in good form earlier but after picking up a few races was brought down on handicap by asking Santosh kumar a Pure JUNK Jockey to do the Honors.Last run with Ranjeet was suggestive and with regular JOHN in saddle i had mentioned in the blog.Developed cold feet after seeing the odds and also after realising that the Trainer had A big WIN earlier.

Backed each way the recommended Horse MY FRIEND PAUL as place payment was itself 19 when backed.Due to withdrawl of Bastian bay there was a decrease of
Rs 2.

Gitf a diamond which had beaten some VB horses earlier was surprisingly the favorite and the LOSS was on expected lines.

Milford's run was forward and should do well at 55 kgs or less.

I noticed Sangini backed for place in TOTE and took a chance bet.Went through the earlier record and noticed that it had finished a good 5 th earlier on in the season after the First WIN.The odds were very high as the last run was too bad.Fortunately recent track works were available and it did end up 3 rd ahead of many fancied runners.


Overall a satisfying day though My kainchis' failed.
