Selections for 21st September, 2008 - Pune Races

Hi Folks,

Oasis Star the odds on favorite in the Chantill Challenge, is fancied to win the feature event of the races to be held today. He is in pink of condition as evidenced in morning trials and should continue winning till meets its waterloo. Cotswold Arms is the main danger, still looking at the handicap rating whereby Oasis Star enjoys the highest rating in Western India, I do not envisage his defeat.

Race No. 1 Star Luxurious 2) Recardo 3) Tsesebe

Star Luxurious is best placed on speed radar. Even though it struggled last time I feel the extra 400mts will suit her, as it was very sharp. It has been further sharpened up in the morning trials. Both Recardo and Tsesebe have won their races in emphatic style in their respective appearances this season. But the opposition beaten by them was nothing much to write about. Hence Star Luxurious should be able to hold them at bay.

Race No. 2: Katania 2) Rubaiyat 3) Borzu Again

Katania has been given two good lung openers this season. In her last outing it was seen racing ahead along rails, led till 350, and ended a tame 3rd. Should win today considering the fact that Rubaiyat has still not come to hand.

Race No. 3: Brad 2) Zen 3) Fighting Fantasy

Last run of Brad wherein it was seen to be 7th till 800, 6th at the bend, 4th till 400 and was seen finishing on thereafter with full burst and ended close 3rd. Please note it was the first run after being gelded. Hence to day it should be able to perform better. Zen is the big danger here. It was not stretched last time against Secret Glory wherein it was 3rd almost throughout the trip. Should add spice to the finish and one must include him in the carry forward super jackpot pool.

Race No. 4: Oyster Gem 2) Generalissimo 3) The Rising

An open race wherein many horses come very close in my working viz. Beyond Terapy, The Rising, Firefoot, Oyster Gem and Geralissimo. Just watch the race and let any horse win.

Race No. 5: Sea Princess 2) War of Attrition 3) Ikaria

Sea Princess even though runs for the first time after Mumbai is well tuned for The Fair Haven Trophy as evidenced in the Mock Race on 2.8.08 wherein it finished a good fourth against some good horses. War Of Attrition has still not come to hand after setback. Has yet to produce the morning track form after suffering from setback. Ikaria won impressively and should finish ahead of Spitz the odds on favorite here. One can safely eat Spitz.

Race No. 6: OASIS STAR 2) Cotswold Arms 3) Ruben Star

Oasis Star won at Hyderabad recently a 1200 race wherein it was handy 3rd till 800, 2nd till 400, sailed away smoothly and won simply pulverizing the opposition. To-day it will not be that easy considering the fact that Ruben Star which is slowly regaining past form, Cotswold Arms which has improved a lot and Hugo which has been running some good races lately, will add spice to the finish. Still according to me even at these odds I will not hesitate to recommend as day’s best bet.

Race No. 7: Expensive Affair 2) Star Impact 3) Blazing Angels

Ignore last run of Expensive Affair. Give her one more chance and I am sure the mare will not disappoint all today. In fact she ran a good race when finishing a close 3rd challenging the winner powerfully in the straight and failed to measure the ultimate winner Amberogio. Should give a good performance today. Star Impact though ran a good race when finishing a powerful 3rd after rearing up at the start and losing 5 to 6 lengths. Hope it takes a good start.

Race No. 8: Jolteon 2) Golden Orra 3) Frangipani

Again an open race wherein anybody can win. Still Jolteon after being slowly away was 5th till 800, 6th till bend, improved to hit front at 200, and was beaten on last stride. If it takes a level start I am sure will be able to score here. Frangipani, Golden Orra and Arabian Quest will fight for the minor placing.

Day’s Best: Oasis Star

Good Double: Brad and Oasis Star

Kainchi w/pl: Brad, Oyster Gem, Sea Princess and Oasis Star

Good Luck to all

Thanking you,

Jimmy

We cannot be winners everyday. It is important that we have a budget and play exactly as per a plan so that even during periods when the "LADY LUCK" deserts us, we still do not end up loosing a lot of money."LADY LUCK" does favour everybody at some point of time and we make returns at that time.
