CLASSERVILLE for The Nanoli Stud Pune Derby (Grade I)

Hi Folks,

Classerville the south challneger trained by S. Padmanabhan and to be ridden by W. Smith gets my vote to win the Pune Derby 2009 the plum event of the season and major attraction of the races to be held here on Sunday. Both Classrville and Versaki have raced together and the later has beaten the former in Mumbai Season inspite of which I fancy the chances of Classerville because the horse runs the best on shorter homestretch and possessing good initial speed if it is brought from behind till the Club House, well it can upset and spoil the career graph of Versaki who has been unbeaten so far and also maintains good form. In fact Versaki has not appealed to me as far as speed rating is concerned. Last time though Versaki recorded brilliant victory in Pune this season the fact to be noted is the speed was too much low of a Champion colt. No doubt it towers over all in handicap rating being superior by at least 8kgs. but speed wise it is compensated by others. Hence Classerville on account of excellent speed rating should prevail in the end. Rest of the card looks favorite horses prevailing except a hiccup here and there i.e. Il Divo on account of good handicap chance and last run being too good to miss can with a faint hope prevail over Oasis Star who in fact is in great heart and I am sure it would be foolhardy to look beyond this Champion filly to claim the Noshir & Dolly Dhunjibhoy Sprint Million being a grand rehearsal for the Sprinters Cup a fortnight away.
