Now for the concluding day of racing at Mysore in The Poonawala Mysore Derby 2009(Grade I), S.Padmanabhan trained Messalina though lacks in experience and sparingly raced in her career, looks too good to lift the derby being the stellar event of the Season scheduled to-day at Mysore. Messalina won the Hyderabad Fillies Trial effortlessly by pulverizing the opposition and showed tremendous turn of foot. Believe me this horse was first targeted for Hyderabad Derby as per my talks with one of the leading breeder and co-owner at Pune in early October failing which Pune was next in schedule but due to some reasons targeted here. Messalina will no doubt face stiff competition from Sprint Star the main danger here who won the Colts Trial at Mysore coming from back and produced an electrifying run sweeping past Mystic Quest and Classerville whereby exhibiting his abilities to stay. All said and done, Messalina should prevail in the end and I would strongly recommend one and all to play an each way good bet. In the supporting event for the day i.e. The Daissy Appo Cup is a straight fight between father and son trained Ohyesa and Youre So Beautiful. Neil Darashah trained Youre So Beautiful is in tremendous condition but lacks experience and class and Ohyesa on account of good speed rating and being way ahead in handicap rating of the rest, would strongly fancy his chances and in fact would not hesitate to select as the day's best betting proposition unless the father allows the son to win the event on a big day to get well acquainted with the racing patrons.
